Promotes Bicycle Safety in
Volusia County School Summer Programs
The Volusia County MPO (VCMPO) is
conducting Bicycle Safety Awareness Programs in Volusia
County School Extended Day Enrichment Programs this
summer. Safety items and advice on safe bicycling
practices will be provided. Bicycle helmets will be
distributed and fitted free of charge.
Bicycle helmets
are purchased by the VCMPO and awarded by the Florida
Department of Health through the 2009 Bicycle Helmet
Promotion Grant. Bicycle Safety Awareness Programs

Volusia County Bicycling Map for the Experienced Cyclist
The Volusia County Bicycling Map for the
Experienced Cyclist was adopted by the Volusia County
Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) on February 24,
2009. The map is a portable, graphic representation of
bicycle facilities and suggested bicycle routes in Volusia
County. It is intended for use as a navigation tool for
experienced bicyclists and the general public.
The map
was created by the Volusia County MPO in cooperation with
county and city governments in Volusia County, Florida
Department of Transportation, Florida Freewheelers, Inc.,
Bike Florida, Inc., Florida Bicycle Association, various
local bicyclists and transportation professionals.
The
Volusia County Bicycling Map for the Experienced Cyclist
is available free of charge (starting May 15, 2009) from
the Volusia County MPO. To view the map in PDF format
