Introduction
The Volusia County MPO Board
membership consists of elected officials representing all of the
local governments, including municipal and county entities. As
outlined in Florida Statutes, the MPO Board is comprised of 19
voting members. In addition, there are four non-voting members on
the Volusia County MPO Board. The voting members review local,
regional, and statewide transportation issues and work cooperatively
to determine appropriate policy to address transportation needs.
The non-voting members represent the Technical Coordinating
Committee (TCC), Citizen’s Advisory Committee (CAC),Bicycle/Pedestrian
advisory Committee (BPAC) Florida
Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Office, and Volusia
County Schools. These members are appointed primarily to
provide information to the Board.
The Volusia County MPO has also established a series
of committees, sub-committees and working groups that assemble
regularly to investigate specific topics in greater detail than what
is typically accomplished at board meetings. These groups
include the Executive Committee, the Budget/Personnel Subcommittee,
the Nominating Committee, the Central Florida MPO Alliance and the
Legislative Issues Subcommittee. For
information regarding the specific activities of these groups,
please contact the MPO staff.
The MPO Board meets on the fourth Tuesday of every
month and all meetings are properly noticed and open to the
public. Board meetings are held at the Volusia County MPO
office and begin promptly at 8:00 AM. In
accordance with the adopted Bylaws of the MPO, each meeting
agenda includes an opportunity for “citizens to comment or be
heard on any matter pertinent to the urban transportation planning
process.” This provides time for citizens to address the Board
regarding a broad range of transportation related topics.
