MPO Bicycle Safety Decal featured in VOTRAN Bus Advertisements

 

The Volusia County MPO’s Bicycle Safety Decal currently appears in an advertisement on the back of VOTRAN buses (fixed routes 1B, 9, 10, 17 and 20).  The advertisement promotes a safe passing distance of at least 3 feet between vehicles and bicycles or other non-motorized vehicles (F.S. 316.083).  The advertising campaign, funded by the Volusia County MPO and VOTRAN, began in October 2008 and runs through February 2009.

The Volusia County MPO Participated in the 2008 Port Orange Family Days Celebration Event

The Volusia County MPO participated in the Port Orange Family Day event which was held on October 4, 2008.  Over 300 free bicycle helmets were fitted and distributed to the children who visited the MPO's booth.  Click on the pictures below to enlarge.

The MPO wishes to thank the City of Port Orange, Port Orange Family Days Community Trust, Florida Department of Transportation-District 5 Safety Office, Volusia Community Traffic Safety Teams and Wal-Mart Super Center #582 in Port Orange for their support of our safety program.
